FAQ

  • Are the items for sale handmade in the USA?
Yes, all the finished products are handmade in Hawaii, USA.
  • How long does it take to make a lei?
The "fancy" leis usually take me about 5 hours to make a single finished lei.
  • What are the lei made out of?
Most of the lei are made of a combination of satin and organza ribbon. I also frequently use iridescent ribbon as well as gold edged or gold lined. Some lei include rattail cord or eyelash yarn. The thread is a double strand of bonded nylon for strength and durability.
  • Can I wash the lei?
I don't recommend washing the lei. If you plan to wear them often, I would Scotch Guard them. With or without the fabric protector spray, I would spot clean them with a damp soft cloth. If you choose to wash them, only hand wash them in a bowl of soapy water and gently rub (like you're petting a kitten). Do NOT immerse the knot that ties the lei together as this may cause it to come apart. Air dry.
  • Can I order a custom lei with colors of my choosing?
Yes, you may request specific colors for a custom lei. School colors are most frequently used for High School and University graduations. Sport team colors are also a much requested item. I will work with you to design a lei with the style and colors of your choosing within the limits of ribbon color availability. Please contact me for a price quote and estimation of time required.
  • How long will it take for my item to ship?
If an item is in stock it will usually ship within 2 business days. Custom made lei are fulfilled in the order in which they were received. Contact me for a price quote and estimated time of completion.
